GP REGISTRAR CONFERENCE SUPPORT GRANT
The GP Registrar Conference Support Grant is a dedicated initiative by the Taranaki Medical Foundation (TMF) to support the professional development of GP registrars within our medical community. This grant acknowledges the financial burden that GP registrars may face when participating in annual medical conferences nationwide. TMF is committed to empowering and nurturing the growth of future General Practitioners.
Key Features:
Purpose: The GP Registrar Conference Support Grant is tailored to provide financial assistance to GP registrar members of TMF. This grant aims to facilitate their active involvement in medical conferences that directly contribute to their medical practice.

Eligibility: To qualify for this grant, applicants must be registered GP registrar members of TMF.
Application Period: The grant is available year-round, and awards are made on a first-come, first-served basis, with 2-4 grants available annually. Preference is given to first-year registrars or those who haven't received support before.
Funding Amount and Use: Each GP Registrar Conference Support Grant, valued at $1500, covers a range of expenses related to approved medical conferences. This includes conference registration fees, travel expenses, and accommodation costs.
Promoting Collegial Learning: As a vital component of this grant's accountability, recipients are encouraged to contribute to the professional development of their healthcare colleagues actively. Given the nature of conference content, recipients must provide concise presentations lasting approximately 15 minutes at a TMF Continuing Medical Education evening. These presentations aim to distil key insights, practical knowledge, or innovative approaches they have gained from the conference.

This collaborative exchange not only enriches the learning experiences of fellow healthcare professionals but also reinforces TMF's commitment to nurturing lifelong learning within our medical community. It recognises that much of the conference content may affirm existing practices or introduce incremental changes, making brief yet focused presentations an effective way to share valuable information. This approach accommodates the likelihood that multiple grant recipients may attend the same NZ GP conference and wish to present related topics, ensuring a dynamic and relevant CME evening.
